Bud vase #23, natural ash glaze with wadding marks
An earthy and warm natural ash glaze bud vase with wadding marks on its side.
Perfectly happy as a piece of decoration on its own, and also ideal for accommodating a single small flower or plant.
This vase is carefully handcrafted and brought to life in a traditional wood-fired anagama-kiln, undergoing several days of continuous firing. This method, in which intense live flames and flying ash are in direct contact with the ceramic works, results in each piece becoming truly one of a kind.
During wood firing, ceramic works are lifted from kiln shelves on top of small balls of sandy clay, called waddings, to prevent items from getting stuck to the shelves. This part of the firing process is visible in wadding marks, the spots where the original lighter colour of the clay has not been exposed to flames and ash.
Height 6,8 cm
Width 5,8 cm
Opening 2,5 cm
Volume 0,7 dl
Weight 78 g
Intended for decorative use. Washing by hand is recommended.
